General Guidelines For Tipping During Your Travels
Please use our recommendations as a guide and not a hard stop. Consider the level of the service you are receiving. For more luxurious and state-of-the-art experiences, tipping should lean towards the higher end of the scale and sometimes beyond our recommendations. Keep in mind, the more you look after the people caring for you, the more they will take care of you.
Shuttle Driver
If you are traveling a short distance and only have a single piece of luggage, we recommend tipping at least $5 per person. If you are traveling with more than 2 pieces of luggage, we recommend $2 per piece of luggage per person. If you are traveling long distances, we recommend an additional $5 to $10 on top of the total tip.
Valet
The customary valet tip varies on the level of service provided. We encourage $5 to $10+ per vehicle. With $5 being great service and $10 being exceptional service. It is also customary to tip at the end of your visit, but tipping your valet drives initially when you hand over your keys could lead to a better experience from the start.
Bellhop
We recommend tipping your bellhops $1 to $2 per piece of luggage after they have delivered your luggage to its finally destination. For very heavy luggage or an unusually large amount of luggage, we recommend an extra $5 to $10.
Front Desk
Grazzy recommends tipping the front desk $5 to $15, or $10 to $20 if you are working with two people. Tipping the front desk staff will vary on level of helpfulness and how much attention you were provided during your encounter. Did the individual(s) arrange an early check-in or late check-out? Did they do anything special to make your stay a more comfortable one? Did they help resolve a concern of yours?
Housekeeping
Our recommendation is to tip your housekeepers at least $5 to $10 per day. Housekeepers have one of the hardest jobs in the industry and are often overlooked because we are seldom met face to face with them. They ensure a safe and comfortable stay during your travels.
Concierge and Guest Services
Tipping the concierge will vary on level of helpfulness. Our recommendation is to tip $5 to $10 if your concierge was able to give helpful tips or arrange a small experience. For concierges who you work with for extended periods of time to establish plans, or if they go above and beyond the norm, we recommend $40 to $50.
Room Service
Our recommendation is to tip the staff members who deliver your items 20% of the total bill. If your room service attendant went above and beyond, we recommend 25% to 30%.
Bartender and Waitstaff
Our recommendation is to tip the waitstaff at least 20% of the total bill. If your bartender or server delivered an exceptional experience, we recommend 25% to 30%.
